Season 2

Moorflix, previously known as Temple Community Cinema, is about to begin its' second full season showing films in the South Midlothian area. Season 2 - Part 2 has been announced.

What's Changed?

Well, not too much. When initially setting up this project it was intended to show all films in Temple but with the closure of the village hall for refurbishments, we expanded out to Carrington and North Middleton. Due to the interest shown from these communities, we decided to continue showing in these villages, maybe others, and naturally that required a name change.

We've also had a review of our pricing and membership and have decided to standardise all prices but offer a membership system which will offer additional benefits for a minimal cost while also allowing people to show their support.

We've also had a few sound issues at some showings, mainly due to the actual film soundtracks or actor's voices, but also related to the acoustics in the halls. We will create the film programme to try to overcome these issues.

Our Aims

We hope to show a wide variety of quality films at an affordable cost for people living in the South Midlothian area where a trip to the local cinema is a bit of a trek.

Film Making

The idea of a community cinema came about when a group of local filmmakers were looking into how to show their film. One thing led to another and the cinema was born. Filmmaking is continuing under the guise of Moorfoot Community Films with a number of projects in the pipeline. Read more...
